I have been making miniature quilts for about ten years. I love to use my sewing machine to machine applique and embellish these little quilts. Here are some of my miniature and a brief description of special techniques I use. Enjoy!

Christmas Cardinals – September 2009 11” x 11”
Decorative stitched embellish the background fabrics. A special trim was stitched along the outside edge. This quilt was donated to the IQA Celebrity Mini Quilt Auction that took place in November 2009. Proceeds benefit IQA.
Himalayan Garden – June 2008 12” x 12”
An old embroidery from India inspired me to design this completely machine appliqued and quilted miniature. I want to honor amazing textiles from around the world. Awards: Best Miniature AQS 2009, First Place Miniature !QA 2009, First Place Miniature Quilters Heritage Celebration 2009, exhibited at the Festival of Quilts, Birmingham, England 2009. Appears in the 2010 AQS Wall Calendar.
Bombay Bluebirds – August 2008 12” x 12”
Embellished background and tiny fantasy birds are part of this miniature. A fun gold trim was added around the outer edge. This quilt was donated to the IQA Celebrity Mini Quilt Auction that took place in November 2008.
Palampore – 2007 11” x 13”
Inspired by an 1800’s crewel embroidery piece. Made with the blanket-stitched raw-edge fusible machine applique technique. Machine quilted. Decorative stitches create the trim for the narrow borders. Awards: Best Miniature AQS 2008. In the collection of the National Quilt Museum.
Tapestree – 2006 14 ½” x 12 ½”
An antique embroidery inspired the design of this fantasy tree. Embellished with decorative stitches and store-bought trims. The outer loops were made with perle cotton. Machine stitched raw edge applique and machine quilted. Awards: Second Place Miniature AQS 2007, Second Place Miniature IQA 2007.
Fifty Birds – 2003 12” x 14”
To commemorate my 50th birthday and continue my bird-themed projects, I designed this antique quilt inspired miniature. Machine appliqued and quilted. Awards: Third Place Miniature AQS 2004. Included in the “Oh, Wow!” miniature quilt book and collection of the National Quilt Museum.
