Supply List
- Sewing Machine- Blanket stitch used, zigzag may work as an option. (We will also be using the decorative stitches on your machine: bring cams, cards and instruction manuals for your specific machine)
- Don’t forget foot pedal and power cord!
- Open Toe Applique Foot- a MUST for machine appliqué
(this is sometimes called an open toe embroidery foot-
it is the #20 foot on a Bernina)
- Darning foot
- Sewing Machine Needles- 70/10 and 80/12 microtex sharp
- 1 yard paper-backed fusible web - I use Soft Fuse and will have this for sale in the workshop. Please do not bring Heat and Bond products or Lite Steam a Seam 2 or Steam a Seam 2 products (Lite Steam a Seam is fine)
- Scissors- small embroidery type for precise cutting of appliqué pieces.
- Spray Starch
- Iron and small ironing board (one for every 4-5 students)
- Small mat board, rotary cutter and ruler
- Extension cord
- Basic sewing supplies: ruler, pencil, fabric marking pencil, needles, pins, etc.
- Fabric: 100% cotton
- Background block- 17” square of a solid or solid-like (starch before coming to class)
Bring extra background for practice
- Appliqué Fabric- 8-10 different fabrics for leaves and flowers
Fat quarters to half yard cuts
- Thread:
- 40/3* or 50/3 weight cotton* in colors to coordinate with appliqué fabric
- 60/2 or 50/2 weight cotton (slightly thinner thread) to use on background, slight contrast color to background works nicely here.
- *Sue will have some thread for purchase in workshop
